The Youth program of Morningside Baptist Church, codenamed B.L.A.S.T, seeks to help youth grades 6 thru 12, Build Lives Around Spiritual Truths. We desperately want our youth to know all that God wants them to know, so they can be all that God wants them to be, and leave the youth program equipped to do all that God wants them to do. We do this through the study of God's Holy Word and various means of Worship, Fellowship, and Service with an emphasis on discipleship as exampled by our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
- First Wednesday: Grow, in which we send out invitations to new people who have moved into our zip code.
- Second and fourth Wednesday: Bible Study
- Third Wednesday: Senior activity/outing
We are blessed with several talented musicians that love to share their gifts. It is our hope that the music ministry at Morningside will exalt our Heavenly Father, encourage believers, support the sermon, and share the gospel with nonbelievers.
Our Choir sings Sunday mornings at 10:30. This K-Group “Khoir” family meets on Sunday afternoons to share a devotional (descant), pray with and for each other and to rehearse. We blend our young and adult voices to make a joyful noise! Annual programs include Christmas, Easter and Patriotic music.
Our Band and Praise Team lead our 10:30 service on Sundays. Rehearsal is on Wednesday after Oasis (about 7:30). Musicians from High School and beyond (way beyond!) share their gifts.
Special Music – Solos, duets, and other groups share in the worship services and rehearse at various times.
We are always interested in musicians joining the worship team or choir.
For a small church, Morningside has A LOT of talent in its members. To help support all of that talent, Morningside has many opportunities on the technical side of the house. Particularly, IT Support (Computers and other Electronics) and Soundbooth need to have volunteers that may not know how to do it all, but have a special gift when it comes to dealing with electronics and sound.
IT support is needed to maintain all of the computers utilized by the church and also support keeping the web page up-to-date. If you like to mess around with computers, programming, or anything else that's related to computer networking and electronics, we'd love to have you join us to help keep the church online and up-to-date with technology. Our congregation has grown thanks to innovations in technology, and we need to stay in front of the technology train. To connect with the IT Committee, please contact Tracy Willett.
Working in the Soundbooth may look intimidating, but it's really not. If you can listen to music and adjust volume, you can run the sound board. If you can listen and follow along with the Choir or the Pastor during Service, you can run the slides. It's really that easy. Yes, you can learn more and get more experienced, but the basics are just that; basics. If you're interested in helping out, please contact Tracy Willett or Jeana Barber.
The motto of the soundbooth is “to be unseen and unheard.”
The soundbooth performs some secondary responsibilties, these include:
Kids Worship is every Sunday morning for children ages 4 through 4th grade. We explore God's word through song, games and puppets. This worship hour teaches children to know Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. We are currently working on a Character Challenge. Each week we are learning character traits of God and how He wants us to develop them in our lives. This has been a lot of fun acting out bible stories of David, Samuel, Joshua and others and seeing how God worked in their lives and how He wants to work in ours.
Our children's ministry also offers a Wednesday night class called Kids TAG (Talking About God ) for ages 4 through 2nd grade. They have memorized bible verses, built forts, and journeyed through the Red Sea so far. This is a fun learning time for the children as they grow in God's Word.
