deodorant, nail clippers, nail files, sunglasses, hats, jewelry and accessories, flashlights (and batteries), lip balm, watches, gloves, purses, flipflops, bandanas, coloring books, glue sticks, tape, stickers, playdough, sewing kits, calculators, rulers, musical instruments, marbles, jump ropes, balls with pump, finger puppets, slinkys, and anything else that could fit in a shoebox.

Re-Opening Plan

In view of the lifting of the lock down by the governor, we will start back with worship services in the sanctuary on Sunday, May 31, at 10:30 am with these precautions in place:

  • No Sunday School for the next couple of weeks; restart will be announced later.
  • No children’s church for the first few weeks. We will provide a free snack, kids’ bulletin and children’s moment in the service.
  • We will have a nursery and nursery workers will be regularly sanitizing the area.
  • Everyone is encouraged to wear masks if they want to. We will have extras available. We would like volunteers to make more masks to be available.
  • We will use only one entrance. Doors will be propped open for hands-free use. The back building will be closed for now.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the foyer.
  • A sanitizing team will wipe down surfaces to disinfect. We would like to have folks volunteer to be on this team.
  • The water fountain will be closed for the time being. Bottled water will be available.
  • Deacons and ushers will help to direct traffic into and out of the service to keep things moving.
  • We will not have a printed bulletin and will remove hymnals, pens and Bibles from sanctuary. Please bring your own Bible.
  • To encourage social distancing, we will tape off every other pew and encourage non-family members to sit and stay at least two seats apart.
  • We will forego a “meeting and greeting” time and discourage handshakes and hugs for now.
  • Your offering may be dropped in a bowl in the back as you exit.
  • We will exit one row at a time and we discourage “congregating” until you get outside.

We encourage anyone who is sick or is having any type of cold or flu like symptoms, such as fever, chills, coughing or sneezing, not to come.

If you don’t yet feel safe in coming, please don’t come. We assure you there will be no judgment or criticism from us. Just watch at home until you’re ready.

We will continue to live stream the service for all who can’t or choose not to come. Go to YouTube and search for mbchuntsville to watch. We will continue to do the Tuesday night K group and some Sunday School classes on Zoom for a couple more weeks.

Life is full of risk and we will do everything reasonable to minimize the risk of COVID-19 and other illnesses, but we can’t promise a perfectly sterile environment. It’s up to each individual to decide for themselves what amount of risk they are willing to accept.

What will Morningside look like in a post coronavirus world? I believe we will continue to take reasonable precautions for some time, gradually getting back to a more normal routine. I believe we will bounce back fairly quickly and regain our momentum as a church. Live streaming has been a great addition to our ministry, but it’s no substitute for our assembling together.

We just may need to make a few adjustments for the time being so please be patient. There will never be a world without risk from something, so we will take appropriate precautions and press on.

Fear not, be wise and trust God.

Stay Connected

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a month since our last in-person church service. We continue to look for ways to keep in touch with our members in this new environment, and want to encourage all of our members to stay engaged with the church throughout this pandemic. We utilize many tools to send out messages and wanted to remind everyone of the multiple ways you can stay in touch with the latest information concerning activities at Morningside.

1) Realm Connect – All of our messages are sent via the Realm Connect online application. We want this to be our hub for communicating within the church body, especially during times like these. We still have some members who have not registered and activated their accounts, so to help encourage everyone to sign up, we will be sending a reminder to those who have not registered yet. If you receive this email, please follow the instructions so that you may be connected with the rest of your church family through this tool. If you have not received an email, and do not have an account already set up, please email the office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to have your account created. Note: This app is only for church members. If you are not a member, you will not be able to get access to the application due to privacy reasons. The link or app can be used to access your account, but you must’ve already registered via the email sent from the office.

2) Morningside Web Page – Our web page has links to all of our social media sites, as well as training information, news, and ways to give your tithes. It’s available for members and non-members and is updated as we get information that needs to be posted to the public. The giving tab provides instructions on the multiple ways you can continue to tithe without attending a physical service.

3) Facebook – Our Facebook page is open to everyone, and we update it with event information as well as information about our Live streams and messages. It is not used for internal communications since it is a public resource. To keep in touch via Facebook, please visit our page below and ‘Like’ our page.

4) Twitter – Our Twitter page is new, and we are using it to announce when we are Live streaming our services, as well as short devotional messages from Marty. We have only just started using this service, so we do not have a lot of followers yet. We’d like to encourage everyone to find us on Twitter and ‘Follow’ us so that you are updated each time we send out a ‘Tweet’. You can search for ‘MBCHuntsville’ or go the link below to find us on Twitter.

5) YouTube – Our YouTube page is also new, and we are using it for the sole purpose of streaming our Live Services. We would like to encourage all of our members to help us grow our YouTube channel by visiting the link below and clicking on ‘Subscribe’ to join our channel and be alerted each time we post a new video. We intend to continue our streaming after the pandemic is over and we resume ‘normal’ services again. All of our videos will be archived on this channel for future viewing. This is quickly growing into a huge resource for reaching people we would otherwise not reach. Please help us by subscribing and encouraging others to visit our channel to view our service online. The more subscribers we have, the more our videos show up when people search for content on YouTube. We do not make any money off of our videos. It’s strictly an outreach resource.

Firecracker 5K Update

After careful and Prayerful discussion, we have come to realize there was not a way for our church to safely host our 5k race this July.  Due to the current situation, we are canceling this year's Firecracker 5k.  Please follow us on Facebook for more information.  We hope to see you in 2021.
